The Reality of Stones
Mineral Bodies: memories, reciprocities, and sensitive ecologies between humans and more-than-humans
Co-led with Yusa Jacobo, we are pursuing an artistic research project rooted in the cultural ecology of the northern Périgord region, seeking to weave bridges between local memory, sensitive ecologies, and embodied practices in order to re-imagine contemporary relationships between humans and more-than-humans, particularly minerals and stones.
We wish to explore modes of coexistence between humans and minerals through local stories, situated know-hows, and artisanal and artistic practices. By reactivating these narratives and gestures, we hope to bring forth paths for imagining other forms of collaboration, more sensitive and sustainable.
Our approach is inspired by the Aymara cosmovision of crianzas mutuas, an ethic of reciprocity, care, and co-emergence between human and more-than-human.
